Steam hoses can be subjected to high pressure, temperature, corrosion and aging. They are also susceptible to popcorning and require careful handling and maintenance.

Our steam hoses are designed for delivering saturated and superheated steam in fire prevention, heat control and cleaning applications. The tube is made from black smooth synthetic rubber with braided steel wire reinforcement. The EPDM cover offers external protection, resists internal pressures and helps to eliminate static charges.

PTFE steam hose

PTFE is the most widely used fluoropolymer in the world. It offers superior chemical resistance and high temperature rating. Whether your application calls for a smooth or helically convoluted hose, the extensive Unisource PTFE & Teflon hose line-up will meet your needs.

Unlike rubber steam hoses, PTFE & flexible metal hoses are resistant to deposit build-up, non-stick and can easily be cleaned. They can also handle higher temperatures and pressure ratings than rubber hoses.

Our PTFE steam hoses are made from the finest materials and fabricated to your specifications. The smooth Teflon inner core is reinforced with a tightly woven stainless steel braid for maximum durability and long life.

The helically convoluted PTFE steam hoses are available in natural or black. The helically convoluted hoses are also offered with an inner conductive tube that is suitable for applications where flow-induced electrostatic charges could be hazardous. These hoses have been certified to AMS H-27267 and have a conductivity of not less than 10-20 Micro amps at 1,000 volts applied over a length of 14aEUR (tm).

high pressure steam hose

High pressure steam hoses, designed for saturated and superheated service, are used in a variety of industrial applications including product processing and equipment cleansing. These hoses are typically made with a tube that resists heat and moisture, a wire-braid reinforcement and an EPDM covering that resists oil and chemicals. These hoses can withstand up to 250 psi of working pressure.

The hose's reinforcement layer is usually made of braided steel wire, which provides external protection, resists high internal pressures and helps eliminate static charges. The cover, made of EPDM or chlorobutyl in most cases, protects against abrasion and environmental hazards. It also protects against chemicals, high temperatures, and abrasion. It is resistant to cracking, hardening and weathering.

Workers should always inspect a steam hose before and after each use. They should look for signs of damage, such as cuts, cracks, kinks and flattened areas or blisters on the cover, which could indicate that it is in need of replacement. In addition, workers should avoid flexing the hose or extending it over equipment that can cause strain, as this may damage the assembly. It is recommended to install a shut-off between the steam source and the hose assembly or to install spring guards to prevent kinking near couplings.

flexible high-pressure steam hose

Steam hoses transfer steam and hot water to various applications, including cleaning, sterilization, humidification, and cooling. They are designed to withstand extreme temperatures and can be easily maneuvered into tight spaces. They are also resistant to chemicals, ensuring safe handling of hazardous materials.

Consider the dimensions of a steam hose and its operating temperature range when selecting one. Determine whether the hose will be used to channel dry, wet, or superheated steam. Also, make sure the hose can withstand the maximum pressure it will be exposed to.

If you are considering a flexible high-pressure steam hose, look for a model with a thick outer cover and stainless steel braiding that offers resistance to chemical corrosion. This feature will ensure that the hose can withstand vibrations and impacts without deteriorating. The hose should also have pin-prick holes to allow trapped gases to evacuate.

To prevent steam hoses from popcorning, install a shut-off valve between the steam source and the hose assembly. Additionally, use spring guards to protect hose assemblies from kinking and bending. Avoid excessive flexing near couplings as this can weaken the hoses. Last but not least, train your staff to recognize steam hose problems during operation. These include loose clamps, leakage of steam, and abrasions on the hose. These issues can reduce the life of your hoses and increase operational costs.
